Attached is a Volunteer Sheet provided to A.C.C. 2024-2025 cruise participants in preparation of our crew meeting and trip to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. It could also be described as a Blue Water Sailing Club vision or mission statement for cruise leaders and Club members. Our focus in this "Volunteer Sheet" is to create a structure to the cruise that makes all the participants Cruise Leaders (a/k/a Captains of the Day) similar to how an offshore sailboat should function when the Watch duties cycle through crew day and night. By having everyone on the cruise assume responsibility for all aspects of the cruise, our members will be empowered, encouraged, educated, challenged and invigorated in ways that classroom seminars cannot replicate. Situational awareness, thinking and problem solving in real time... experience that can only come by casting off the lines and heading out there. The structure will hopefully make all of us better and more capable sailors - a different (non-numerical) objective and better way to strengthen the Club.
