8:00 - LRSE opens
8:15-8:50 - Registrations & Waiver forms, Equipment drop-off, shop in store, questions for LRSE
9:00-9:20 - Introductions, 7 steps of survival, split into groups
9:30-11:45 - Hands on Modules (3 group rotation):
- Signaling: EPIRBs/PLBs/AIS/Flare demo
- MAYDAY Calls & Firefighting
- Unintentional Flooding/Damage Control Kits & Station Bills
11:45-12:20 - Lunch at LRSE and then off to the pool
1:00-3:00 - In water session (3 groups staggered start):
- Life Raft inflation
- Tread water in foul weather gear
- Don PFDs, and enter water with PFDs
- Enter a life raft from the water with PFD, right life raft
- Exit the pool and go over inflatable PFD stowage/maintenance/re-arming
- Debrief the day
Plan for all to bring their own lunch, which we will have at the LRSE facility in Tiverton. Plan also for all to bring their foul weather gear and PFD, to be worn over typical sailing clothing for the in water pool work. Bring a plastic bag for wet clothes, and a change of clothes.
Lastly, for those in need of having their safety equipment inspected, or recertified, LRSE will do this. Plan to drop off your safety gear first thing in the morning.
