"Hi-Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!" (Bay, not Beer in our case!). Welcome to the 2024 Southern Cruise!. Unlike Roger Williams, you don't have to be banished from Massachusetts to discover the Narragansett Bay. The tentative itinerary of the 2024 Southern Cruise includes a leisurely circumnavigation of the Bay, with plenty of shoreside activities. Upon leaving Narragansett Bay, we'll head to Buzzards Bay to enjoy a few ports before meeting the Maine Train. Here's what we are thinking so far:

  • Sunday July 14: Dutch Harbor (Gather, cocktails, dinner out in Jamestown)
  • Mon-Tues July 15-16: Greenwich (walking tour, golf, horseback tour, kayak, Goddard Memorial State Park, Wireless and Steam Museum)
  • Wed July 17: Potter Cove, Prudence Island (Cruise around the island, hike/bike the Island, potluck dinner)
  • Thurs July 18: Battleship Cove, Fall River, MA (Battleship Museum)
  • Fri-Sat July 19-20: Bristol, RI (Herreshoff Museum, Colt State Park, progressive cocktail party)
  • Sun-Tue July 21-23: Newport, RI (Provisioning for Maine Train, Cliff Walk, Mansion Tour, Yong and Greg Bader to help plan events)
  • Wed July 24: Third Beach or Fogland (depending on wind/weather)
  • Thur-Fri July 25-26: Cuttyhunk (Potluck at Win and Martha Sanford’s)
  • Sat July 27 Mattapoisett or Padanarum (TBD) (Meet Maine Train)

We request that BWSC members with local knowledge or YC membership help us identify and arrange excursions, dinners or other activities at each port.

Looking forward to your input--and to cruising with you!
