Blue Water Sailing Club members sv-Breakaway and sv-Avocet took to the waters in July of 2023 as cruising class participants of the Booth Bay Yacht Club annual regatta.

The Booth Bay Regatta is a renowned event and attracts a diverse array of sailors. Boat classes feature Cruising (no spinnaker), and Racing classes (with spinnaker), alongside one design, classic wooden yachts, and majestic schooners.

Registration kicked off on Friday. We had ideal weather conditions for two races on both Saturday and Sunday with the grand awards ceremony unfolded on Sunday. 

Saturday evening’s fantastic food and music festivity took place at Bristol Marine Shipyard. The shipyard offered a perfect blend of convenience and nautical charm. The shipyard has a convenient location in the harbor with a launch service for those on a BHYC mooring. 

The highlight on Sunday morning was the breathtaking boat parade, where Breakaway and Avocet joined in on the splendid course around Boothbay's inner harbor in ceremonial attire. Looking ahead to 2024, mark your calendars for July 20-21, as we fully intend to relish the regatta once more.
